Corrections
Last Updated: September 29, 2026
We publish numbers that people use to make decisions about their insurance. Some of them will be wrong, and rules change underneath the rest. This page explains what we do about that, and keeps a public record of every correction we have made.
1. Report an error
Email us with the page and what is wrong. If you can point to the statute, the department page, or the document that shows the correct position, that speeds things up enormously — but you do not need to. “This does not match what my state’s DMV says” is a perfectly good report and we will do the checking.

2. What happens next
| Step | When |
|---|---|
| We acknowledge your report | Within 2 business days |
| We check it against the primary source | Within 5 business days |
| We correct the page, or explain why we think it is right | Within 10 business days |
If a claim is materially wrong and people could act on it, we do not wait for that timetable. We take the figure down or flag it on the page the same day, then work out the correct position.
3. How we correct
A material correction is noted on the page itself, at the foot, with the date and what changed. We do not quietly edit a number and move on — a silent fix is indistinguishable from never having been wrong, and it removes your ability to judge how reliable we are.
- Material correction — a fact, figure, legal minimum, name, or score was wrong. Noted on the page, dated, and logged below.
- Clarification — the fact was right but the wording misled. Noted on the page, dated.
- Minor fix — a typo, a broken link, formatting. Corrected without a note.
- Update — the underlying rule or rate changed and we refreshed the page. Shown by the “last checked” date rather than as a correction, because we were not wrong at the time.
If we corrected something after sending it in an email, the correction goes to the same people who got the original.
4. The record
Every material correction we issue is listed here, newest first, with the date, the page, and what changed.
No corrections have been issued yet. This site’s public corrections process starts with this page on 29 September 2026, and entries will appear here as they arise.
An empty log is not a boast. If this page still says “none” in a year, that most likely means our checking is not working, not that we have been perfect — and you should treat the rest of the site with the scepticism that deserves. We would rather publish a corrections log with entries in it than a clean one nobody believes.
5. Our target
We aim for a correction rate that is low and falling — and never zero, because zero means nobody is checking. We review this alongside our Editorial Standards.
6. Requests to remove or amend
If you are named on the site and believe something about you is inaccurate, tell us and we will look at it on the same timetable as any other correction. Separately, if you want to know what personal information we hold about you, or want it deleted, that is handled through Your Privacy Choices rather than here.
Insurers we review are welcome to point out factual errors, and we will fix them. We will not remove accurate criticism, and a commercial relationship does not change that. See How We Make Money.
