Critic Farm believes you deserve a clear, honest explanation of how our matching quiz works and what happens to your information when you use it. This page is written in plain language, consistent with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections and data practices. If anything here conflicts with our Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, those documents govern the legal relationship, but this page is intended to give you the plain-English version.

1. What Critic Farm Is — and Isn’t

Critic Farm is a publisher and comparison-shopping site. We are not an insurance company, agent, or broker, and we don’t sell you a policy directly. Instead, we:

  • Publish educational articles and state-by-state auto insurance guides;
  • Offer free tools and calculators to help you estimate coverage needs and costs; and
  • Operate an interactive “matching” quiz that asks about your driving history, vehicle, and coverage needs, and then connects you with third parties who can give you an actual quote.

2. How the Matching Quiz Works

When you complete the matching quiz, here is what happens:

  1. We ask you questions. These typically include your driving profile (age, driving history, violations), vehicle information (make, model, year), your current coverage and coverage needs, your location, and contact information — which may include your name, email address, and phone number.
  2. We match your answers against our network of partners. Based on your responses, we identify insurance carriers, licensed agents or brokers, lead-generation companies, and/or affiliate advertising networks (“Partners”) that may be able to offer you a relevant quote.
  3. We share your information with those Partners. Your quiz answers and contact details are transmitted to one or more Partners so that they — or Critic Farm calling/texting/emailing on their behalf — can follow up with you directly about a quote or offer. Depending on the Partner and your state, you may receive a call, text, or email from more than one Partner as a result of a single quiz submission.
  4. Critic Farm may be paid for this. We may receive compensation from Partners — such as a fee per completed match, per click, or per sale — when you are matched with them or when you purchase a policy as a result. This is how Critic Farm’s free content and tools are funded. This compensation may influence which Partners appear or how prominently they are featured, but it does not change the answers you provide or guarantee you a particular outcome.

3. Why We Collect This Information

We collect the information above to:

  • Determine which insurance products and Partners are relevant to your situation;
  • Enable Partners to prepare and deliver an actual, personalized insurance quote;
  • Allow Partners to contact you about that quote; and
  • Improve our content, tools, and matching accuracy over time.

4. Who We Share It With

  • Insurance carriers that may underwrite a policy for you;
  • Licensed insurance agents and brokers who may help place coverage;
  • Lead-generation and lead-aggregation companies that route your information to carriers or agents on our behalf;
  • Affiliate marketing networks that track referrals and facilitate compensation between Critic Farm and Partners;
  • Service providers who help us operate the quiz and communicate with you (e.g., email/SMS delivery vendors).

We do not control what these Partners do with your information after they receive it beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy; please review each Partner’s own privacy notice when you interact with them directly.

5. This Is Advertising Material

The matching quiz, and any quote, offer, or follow-up communication you receive as a result of using it, is a form of advertising and solicitation for insurance products. Completing the quiz is not the same as buying insurance, does not guarantee you will receive a quote or qualify for coverage, and is entirely optional. You are never obligated to purchase anything as a result of using the Services.

6. Phone, Text, and Email Consent (TCPA)

If you provide a phone number through the matching quiz or any other form:

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages, including by automated dialing technology or prerecorded voice, from Critic Farm and/or its insurance partners regarding your inquiry. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts.

You can revoke this consent at any time by replying STOP to a text, telling a caller to stop, or emailing privacy@criticfarm.com. Because your information may already have been shared with multiple Partners at the time you revoke consent, you may need to separately ask each Partner to stop contacting you, or contact us so we can assist.

7. Your Choices

  • You may decline to complete the matching quiz and instead browse our educational content and calculators, which do not require submission of personal contact information.
  • You may opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information under applicable state law — see our CCPA/CPRA Do Not Sell or Share page.
  • You may control cookies used for advertising and affiliate attribution — see our Cookie Policy.
  • You may withdraw phone/text consent as described above.
