This is the plain-language explanation of what our matching quiz does with your information, and how Critic Farm is funded. It follows the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance that material connections and data practices should be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. Where this page and our Privacy Policy or Terms of Service differ on a legal point, those documents govern — but this page is the honest summary.

1. What Critic Farm is, and is not

Critic Farm is a publisher. We are not an insurance company, agent, or broker. We do not sell you a policy, we cannot bind coverage, and we do not decide whether you are eligible for anything. What we do is:

• publish educational articles and a guide to the rules in each of the 50 states and DC;
• score and review insurers against a published method;
• offer free calculators; and
• run a matching quiz that collects what you are looking for in a policy.

2. What happens when you complete the quiz

Being specific, because this is the part that matters:

1. We ask you questions about your driving profile, your vehicle, the coverage you want, your state, and how to reach you. The phone number is optional and requires a separate tick to consent to calls or texts.
2. We store your answers in our own system, together with the date, your IP address, and the exact consent wording you were shown.
3. A person on our team reads it and follows up about what you asked for.

What does not happen: we do not currently send your submission to any insurance carrier, agent, broker, lead aggregator, or affiliate network. Nothing is transmitted onward. You will not receive a call from a carrier because you used this form, and you will not start receiving offers from companies you have never heard of.

3. How Critic Farm makes money today

Today, it does not. Critic Farm currently earns no revenue from this website. There are no affiliate links in our reviews, no sponsorships in our articles, no advertising anywhere on the site, and no payment from anyone for a quiz submission.

We would rather state that than imply a commercial machine that does not exist. It also means that, right now, nothing at all influences how we score an insurer.

4. How we intend to make money

We plan to connect the matching quiz to licensed insurance partners who can produce a real quote, and to be paid a fee when we introduce someone to one. That is the standard model for a comparison publisher, and it is how we expect to fund the work.

Two commitments attach to that, starting now rather than later:

• Before any submission is sent to a partner, we will change this page, state it on the quiz form itself at the point you enter your details, and ask for your agreement there. We will not apply the change to anything submitted beforehand.
• Compensation will never change a score. Our insurer scores are set against the published method in How It Works and reviewed on a schedule. If we are ever paid by a company we review, that fact will appear on the review itself. A payment will never move a score, reorder a ranking, or remove a criticism.

5. This is advertising material

The matching quiz is a form of solicitation for insurance products. Completing it does not buy you anything, does not guarantee you a quote, and does not mean you qualify for coverage. It is entirely optional, and every guide, review, and calculator on this site is free to use without it.

6. Phone and text consent

If you give us a phone number and tick the consent box:

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages, including by automated dialling technology or prerecorded voice, from Critic Farm about your enquiry. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts.

Because we do not pass your details to partners, this consent covers contact from Critic Farm only. You can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP, telling a caller to stop, or emailing us.

7. Your choices

• Use the guides, reviews, and calculators without submitting anything. None of them ask for contact details.
• Ask us for a copy of what we hold, or ask us to delete it — see Your Privacy Choices.
• Withdraw phone consent at any time, as above.
