Your Privacy Choices

This page explains the privacy rights available to US residents and how to use them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. We do not sell or share your personal information

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and under the comparable laws in other states, “sale” and “sharing” are defined broadly. They cover far more than exchanging a list for cash: disclosing personal information to a partner for money or other value counts, and so does passing it to an advertising network for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Measured against those broad definitions, Critic Farm does not sell or share personal information. Specifically:

• We do not transmit matching quiz submissions to insurance carriers, agents, brokers, lead aggregators, or affiliate networks.
• We run no advertising cookies, no pixels, and no cross-context behavioural advertising. Google Analytics runs only if you allow it, with Google Signals and ad personalisation off, and it never runs for a browser sending Global Privacy Control.
• We do not disclose personal information to any third party for money or other valuable consideration.

The only third parties that handle your information are the service providers that run our website and send our newsletter, acting on our instructions. That is not a sale or a share.

There is therefore nothing for you to opt out of. We would rather tell you that than present an opt-out button that does nothing. Every other right below is fully available to you.

If we ever begin sharing information with insurance partners, we will update this page, say so at the point we collect your details, and provide a working opt-out before any such disclosure takes place.

2. Rights you have

These rights are guaranteed by statute for residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and a growing number of other states. We apply them to everyone who asks, wherever they live, because operating one process is simpler and fairer than operating twelve.

3. How to make a request

Email us at the privacy address below with the subject line “Privacy request”, and tell us which right you want to use. Include the email address you used on the site so we can find your records.

We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and give you a substantive answer within 45 calendar days. Where a request is genuinely complex we may take one further 45 days, and we will tell you before we do.

Verification. Before we hand over or delete anything, we need to be reasonably sure the request is really from you. Normally that means confirming the email address used on the site and one or two details from the submission itself. We ask for as little as possible, and anything you send for verification is used only to check your identity and then discarded.

4. Authorised agents

You may appoint someone to make a request for you. We will ask for written proof that you authorised them, and we may still ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

5. If we say no

If we refuse your request, we will tell you why. You may then ask us to reconsider by replying to the same address with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will review the decision and give you a written answer, with reasons, within 45 days.

If you are still unhappy, you can complain to your state Attorney General. California residents may also contact the California Privacy Protection Agency.

6. Global Privacy Control

If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser. Because we do not sell or share, this makes no practical difference to how we handle your data — but the signal is respected rather than ignored.

7. People under 16

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone at all, including people under 16.

8. Financial incentives

We do not offer financial incentives, discounts, or a different level of service in exchange for your personal information. Our content, guides, and calculators are free to everyone and require nothing from you.
