California Privacy Rights — CCPA/CPRA “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”
Last Updated: August 13, 2026
This page describes the rights available to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, “CCPA/CPRA”), and explains how to exercise them with respect to Critic Farm’s collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, including through our educational content, free tools, and interactive matching quiz. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. Personal Information We Collect and “Sell” or “Share”
As described in our Privacy Policy and Advertiser & Data Disclosure, when you use our matching quiz we collect categories of personal information including identifiers (name, email, phone number), commercial information, internet/network activity, geolocation (ZIP code/approximate location), and information related to your driving profile, vehicle, and insurance coverage needs.
We disclose this information to insurance carriers, agents, brokers, lead-generation companies, and affiliate advertising networks in exchange for compensation, and we use advertising/affiliate-tracking cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under the CCPA/CPRA’s broad definitions, these practices may constitute a “sale” and/or “sharing” of personal information, even though we do not sell data in the traditional sense of a cash transaction for a data list. Accordingly, we treat these disclosures as a sale/sharing and provide the opt-out rights described below.
We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know are under 16 years of age without opt-in consent, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through the Services.
2. Your CCPA/CPRA Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Right to Know/Access: Request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we have disclosed, sold, or shared it.
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: Direct us not to sell or share your personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising and matching-quiz referrals to Partners going forward.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: Direct us to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (which may include precise geolocation or certain insurance-eligibility-related data) to what is necessary to perform the Services you requested.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not deny you goods or services, charge different prices, or provide a different level or quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.
- Right to Portability: Request a copy of your personal information in a portable format, where technically feasible.
3. How to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing
To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information going forward:
- Submit a request by emailing privacy@criticfarm.com with the subject line “CCPA Opt-Out,” or by writing to us at [COMPANY MAILING ADDRESS]; or
- Use our cookie preference tool, where available on the site, to reject advertising/affiliate-tracking cookies described in our Cookie Policy; or
- Use a recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we will honor as a valid opt-out-of-sale/sharing request for that browser/device.
Please note: if you have already completed the matching quiz and your information has already been transmitted to one or more Partners, opting out here will stop future sharing but may not retract information already disclosed. You may need to separately contact any Partner who already has your information to request deletion or opt-out from them directly.
4. How to Submit a Right to Know, Delete, or Correct Request
Submit verifiable consumer requests through either of the following methods:
- Email: privacy@criticfarm.com
- Mail: [COMPANY MAILING ADDRESS]
We will need to verify your identity before processing a request to know, delete, or correct, typically by matching the information you provide (such as name and email address used with the matching quiz) against our records. We will not fulfill a request to know or delete until we can verify the requester’s identity to a reasonable degree of certainty appropriate to the sensitivity of the data requested.
5. Authorized Agents
You may designate an authorized agent to submit a CCPA/CPRA request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide proof of your written authorization and may still require you to verify your own identity directly with us.
6. Response Timing
We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days, subject to one 45-day extension where reasonably necessary (with notice to you), as permitted under the CCPA/CPRA.
7. Financial Incentives
Critic Farm does not currently offer financial incentives or price/service differences in exchange for the retention, sale, or sharing of personal information beyond the free content, tools, and quote-matching Services described in our Advertiser & Data Disclosure.
8. Other State Privacy Laws
If you reside in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have similar rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of targeted advertising/sale, and appeal a denied request. Please see Section 8.2 of our Privacy Policy and contact privacy@criticfarm.com to exercise those rights; we will apply a consistent verification and response process across states to the extent permitted by each state’s law.
